James Nachtwey has dedicated his life to going into countries under horrible circumstances and has devoted himself to take unbelievable pictures to show to the world what is going on (as shown in the pictures below). He puts himself in great danger just to capture these photos and exposes himself to horrible deceases that he comes in contact with while on his travels. James has been hurt many times and has had caught some of these horrible sicknesses, but he always gets out of them and manages to be okay. I look at James and think of all the horrible things he has witnessed, all the things he has had to watch but couldn't stop. In the documentary we heard about the story of people chasing this one man around with machetes and sticks to brutally beat him to death. James tries to tell these people that they do not have to do this, that this man is no harm to them but they didn't listen to him and beat him to death right there on the street. James was on his knees pleading to them not to kill this man, that it wasn't necessary because he was no harm to them, but it was no good. They beat him right in front of James and there was nothing he could do to stop it. The things he has witnessed by doing this career is beyond me. I see some of the horrible things on the news and the outcomes of this disasters and think of how horrible that must be and feel terrible, but to actually be there and be the one capturing the photos and seeing these things through your own eyes makes me wonder how someone could be able to handle that. How they could actually continue to take the photos. It all takes a very strong person who knows how to deal with it. James is one of those people who have been gifted with that ability and he continues to take unbelievable photos of the things going on in our world today.

I disagree with Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson. When you look up in the sky, yes you do see the matter from the stars and the planets but how did they get there? Everything has a start, they just don't just magically appear out of nowhere. So what created the stars? What created the planets? What created the universe itself?

We never really think about those things. We know everything is there but we never go into depth on how it got there. Think about it. At some point in time the earth was created, it didn't just get there one day out of nowhere. It had to be created by atoms and matter that were floating and combined. But the earth is in the universe, so how was the universe created? The universe is so big that we don't even know if it has an end to it! We assume it does but does it really? To get to some of the other planets it takes hundreds of years, which makes it humanly impossible to get to these other planets because humans cannot live that long. So that leads to the thought of where the universe actually goes to. There could be a whole new area that we don't know about that could potentially have life.

Scientist say that universe was created through the "Big Bang Theory", but if there was nothing there before that, where did all the matter and atoms come from to begin with? All these things are things we will not have a true answer to because we cannot go back in time or be able to fully research it. Therefore I disagree with Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson because the most astounding fact to me is how everything was first created because it had to come from somewhere to start with.

Michael Oher was brought up in the rough part of town. His mother was a drug addict and his father was nowhere in sight. He was taken from his mother and brother at a very young age and was put in many foster home but he was a runner. Every time he was put in a new home he would take off in the middle of the night and find his mother and take care of her. That was who he was, a caring person with protective instinct. Michael Oher is a great example of the "High 5 Principles" because of ho he is.

Michael follows his heart a lot during the movie, he has a lot on him and he knows what he has to do that is best for him and the people around him. One example from the movie where he follows his heart is when he is choosing his college that he would like to attend for his football scholarship. His new family, the Tuohy's, all went to Ole Miss and that is the college he chose. People were questioning him and the Tuohy's for persuading him to make the decision on Ole Miss. In the end, Michael said, "all the questions you asked me were why they wanted me to go to Ole Miss, not once did you ask my why i wanted to go." That was exactly it, they never asked Michael w why he chose that as his college, when they did  finally ask he said, "because that is where my family went, that's where they always went." Michael followed his heart in sticking with the school he wanted where his family went when everyone else questioned him.

The change Michael had to deal with was constant but the biggest change he had to deal with was moving in with the Tuohy's and beginning his life there. He was a very tall, broad black boy who was brought up in the rough part of town who was now living with a rich white family. He changed to a new Christian private school that was pretty much all white kids who starred at him. He had to deal with the people from his town making sexual comments about him and his new family. All things that he could have expected happening. But he handled it amazingly by sticking by his family and being proud that he was a part of the Tuohy's. As well he had a second family, his football team. He had never played football with a team before and didn't know the rules and what he had to do. But in no time, with the help of SJ, he was their star player and had over twenty colleges offering him a scholarship.

The biggest challenge that he had to face was probably academic wise. He was finally at a school that could offer him education, something that he didn't have before. But this was all new to him. When he started his scores were very low and he didn't know how to read. He didn't know anything from previous grades because he had not attended school; but he could right. He knew how to write and express his feelings on a piece of paper. The teachers had to help him and adapt to his different abilities and when tests or exams came around, they gave it to him verbally compared to written. He had to learn everything from scratch and that is a challenge when you are in such a higher grade level than a younger one.

The biggest journey he had to face that he knew would have side affects would be moving in with his new family. Leaving "Hurt City" and moving in with a rich white family would have some complications from other people and their judgements. He expected the people he knew from his old home would make comments that he was using them or as they said in the movie, that he would "tap that". All things Michael would never do. He loved that family and would do anything to protect them as we saw with him and SJ in the car accident and when those comments were said to him, he beat those people up. But he also knew that the Tuohy's friends and family would have something to say about their new son. He was a very tall black boy. They thought that they were just doing this as a charity thing and that they were doing it to look good. That wasn't the case, they loved him as their own and thought of him as their own. They took him off the streets, gave him clothes, gave him a bed, and more importantly gave him love and affection; something he lacked of from childhood. Michael expected the comments, but he ignored them.

Michael's biggest allie in my opinion would be SJ. He was the one who first talked to Michael at the new school, who helped him with learning football, and more importantly introduced Michael as his big brother. Michael and SJ did everything together, they were inseparable. SJ looked up to Michael, but Michael also looked to SJ when he needed him for something. They were attached at the hip, Michael would do anything to protect SJ as we saw in the film during the car accident. Michael stopped the air bag from killing him, something that not many people have a reflex fast enough for. Michael loved SJ and SJ loved Michael.

That his how Michael is a great example of the High 5 principles.

Chromebooks in the classroom is a create idea! I find that by using a computer in class for notes or to follow a slideshow makes the class more interacting and that leads to students being more interactive. Chromebooks are a much faster network and computer than what the netbooks are in general. When you look at what the chromebooks have compared to netbooks, the list is endless. The software is more updated, there are more components and tools that aren't on the netbook, and the things you can do online are better as well.

When we are in class, we find that the netbooks tend to take a much longer time to load signing in and accessing the internet is much slower. This causes a problem because when you are trying to take a note in class and the computer won't load then you fall behind and miss the note as your computer won't load. Also we found that when we were using Google Docs it would freeze a lot and that created a problem when you are trying to get work or assignments done, especially when you are trying to save and it freezes, it doesn't always get saved and you have to do that work again.

In class we watched a videa called V For Vendetta. The government in this film was a government I do not appreciate. It took away the personal freedom of their people and was all about government control. They had curfews that at which time they were not in there home, the "secret police" came and wouold deal with them; as we saw in the film with Evey but they abused their power and were in the middle of sexually assulting her before V came to save her. They scared thir people into electing the president by spreading an unknown virus, which they actually created, and told everyone that they could save everyone with that virus because they had the cure to what they created. They also lied and munipulate

Taking away a citizens rights is very wrong! By giving them a curfew it limits their social life due to the fact that many of them work and they do not get home till later and therefor limits them to go out with friends due to the curfew. The government should not have control over what people do in their social time. That is their time to have fun and be able to let loose from any stress they have in life with friends or family. Also as seen in the film, the government abused their power by attempting to sexually assult Evey after she was out past curfew. Yes she broke the law but their actions were not a relevant punishment, it is not relevant for any cases in the first place.

"People should not be afraid of their government, the government should be afraid of their people." These are wise words from V in the film. The people should not be afraid of their goernment cause technically without the people, their would be no government. This is what V was trying to show them. The people were afraid of their government because in the past years they were the ones who created the virus that killed a number of kids in an elementary school and was in a water treatment plant. They did this to gain the power because they created this virus and they were the only ones with the cure. As soon as they announced that they had the cure and if they elected them to run their country then they could save all these lives. A government should never spread a disease in order to guaruntee they get the votes, that's wrong! Dozens of children were killed because they wanted to scare the people to believe their child could be next.

Overall, the government lied to their people a lot and that should not be the case. The people should be getting what they are told and not another form of it. They should be able to trust that what their government is telling them is the truth and that they are doing what is best for them. Isn't that what the people vote for when electing a president? To feel that that person is the best for their country and that they are going to stick to what they are ensuring they will get? To many people are being lied to and being tricked into believing things people say when none of it that comes out of their mouths are the total truth. People have the right to be have the truth told to them, no a lie. This is what a government should be doing, their people deserve at least that.

Today we visited Communitech Institute, Velocity and Google. It was a wonderful experience learning how the technology around us happened and even about how some of the inventors were from Kitchener in that institution who have made big money now!

In Communitech, we interacted in a 3D,virtual film experiement. You put on these glasses that have 6 motion sensor like things on the side that works that monitors to move the scenory and makes everything 3D. When you walk around, everything comes to life and you feel as if you are right there. You have the ability to go through things as you are virtually moving. I personally tried sitting and lying down on the ground to see what effect that would have. The grass and shrubs all came up around me and was like I was actually sitting right there in the field. There was even a soldier that was standing there that when you walked near him it was like he was standing beside you!

The picture below displays the set up the screens and you see some of the students demostrating how it works.
In this photo below, you see what the screen looks like a bit better and how with out the glasses it just looks like a 2D area with a soldier standing there. Until you put the glasses on it will move the
This picture is of a five screen google earth that gives you the feel that you are looking at the earth in a bigger area then what you do on the computer screen. It shows you more of an area than what just one cumputer would.
This picture is one used from the large google earth display on the CN Tower in Toronto. As you can see it gives you a 3D effect and makes it look as if you were looking at it from a birds eye view like you were on a plane or something. It also shows many buildings around as well that are in 3D due to there height.
